A tour for those who would like to learn about communism and its fall with somebody who has really experienced it. I was born in Prague and spent my childhood and youth under communist regime. Some of my family members became victims of communist repressive policy. Then, in November 1989 I became one of participants of so called Velvet revolution - an event which put the end to communism in Czechoslovakia. Just a few months later I started to work at the presidential office of Mr.Vaclav Havel - famous dissident and playwright. As you can see I have a lot to tell you about. This tour is not just a tour to me - it´s a story of my life. During our walking tour we will visit places which are connected to the protests organised in November 1989- National Avenue, National theatre, Wenceslas square, Monument of St.Wenceslas, Lucerna Palace, headquarters of State Secret Police and some more. On the trip there you can see The New Town and The Old Town attractions. We will drive you across the river up to the Castle Town. The rest of the tour is on foot, so walking first Castle Town District. Prague Castle with stops to take pictures of Saint Vitus Cathedral and Castle Guard. Lunch is served in a typical local pub. In the afternoon the tour continues to Old Town square. Next to this, there is the area of the former Jewish ghetto, today very elegant and expensive quarter where is the oldest synagogue in Europe, Ceremonial Hall, The Old Jewish Cemetery. Finally after the all day walking, one hour relaxing Vltava river Cruise awaits you. We will start our tour taking the famous tram 22 to the very top of the Castle District (Hradčany). We will cover the Strahov Monastery and its amazing view then make our way down to the Prague castle explore every courtyard & monument within it, St. Vitus Cathedral & all the most beautiful views the city has to offer. You will need a tram ticket for this tour (30kc). Your valid 24h or 72h passes are valid as well. To get your ticket use the metro station near the meeting point (Staroměstská) or we can do it together on a mobile app at the meeting point.
