We will take you to a village where most of the tourist don't go. Far away from the noise, where you will interact with the local people. You have the opportunity to learn about the traditional way of making chocolate, the use of some medicinal plants and a learn a little bit about the local language. Also our experienced guide will help you understand the Bribri culture, on this experience you are going to learn about the Bribri culture.At the end of the tour we can stop at the waterfall where you have the option to swim or enjoy the scene.

We will leave Puerto Viejo at 7:45 am, then drive for like 30 minutes, arrive at the Bribri Indigenous reserve, where we’ll join an Indigenous family, learn about their culture and a variety of medicinal plants. Participants will then have the opportunity to learn about the history of the cacao tree, taste the fruit, make puréed chocolate. Once we finished with the chocolate we are going to have a typical lunch with a natural juice with the family. Also, we will visit a refreshing waterfall in the mountains of Talamanca. Participants will have the opportunity to swim in the large pool under the falls. After that, we will return to Puerto Viejo. A fruit will be included in this tour. It is best to take this experience on your first days here since you will learn a lot about the area, things to do here and places to visit, so you can decide what you want to do for the remainder of your vacation here. I enjoy sharing my knowledge about animals, this area and it's unique culture. We will first visit The Cliff, a special place with breathtaking views of the ocean. On the hike to there and back we may see sloths and monkeys. At the Cliff you can take some amazing photos, it’s the perfect instagram opportunity. Then we'll drive around the town so you will get to know where is what. We will then visit Iguana Project, protected area where iguanas are raised to be released into the forest. This project is in a Bri Bri farm, so you will also learn about medicinal plants and Bri Bri culture. After that we will go to the waterfalls, a magical place in the woods, where we will relax and swim in the waterfall pool, share drinks and chat about Puerto Viejo and Pura Vida!

During this tour, you will get to experience some of Limon's main activities in one day. You will visit a local rainforest from a unique point of view: the Tortuguero Canals! These are part of the Tortuguero river and withholds a great diversity of wildlife that can be spotted from our boat tour (Monkeys, aquatic birds, iguanas, basilisks, and maybe sloths.... Remember this is Nature!, Sometimes there is only a gorgeous jungle landscape!) in its environment. In 3 hours you will travel through time: from the history of the tree, to the myths, to the very real and important part cacao and chocolate played in the cultures of Mesoamérica. And of course you’ll also be making chocolate. From trying the raw fruit to roasting, grinding and separating the shell from the nibs you’ll be working just like a professional making award winning chocolate. You’ll learn some of the amazing medicinal uses of chocolate before making your own chocolate ‘medicine’ to take home. Finally, you’ll temper freshly poured molten chocolate and you’ll make your own bar to wrap and enjoy later. We will pick-up the clients at 7:30 am, from farthest places, with previous coordination, then once there at the Refuge, the visitors will be taken around the refuge by our guide. There, they will enjoy the wildlife within its unique forest and beaches, possibly see the different ecosystems, including three species of monkey, many types of birds, reptiles, and sloths. This forest is a pristine example of a South Caribbean jungle with no pollution.
