Formed by golden and soft sand, it has native forest in some places. The Preguiças River, which continues in this region, has a rich animal life and beautiful regions of dunes and places for swimming with calm waters

The Ecological Trekking 4 Days, visits one of the wildest sides of Lençóis Maranhenses. The south side of the park, with the start of the walk at the entrance to the park in the city of Barreirinhas, we cross sandbank and dune field on the first day, which shows us a lot about how the Lençóis Maranhenses are really formed.

One of the most popular routes in Barreirinhas, the Lagoa Bonita Circuit is among the most beautiful walks in Lençóis. This circuit is distinguished by a steep dune rise, where there is even help from a rope. The climb, with a height of 30 m, is rewarded by one of the most beautiful landscapes among the walks of the National Park. It is worth every second of effort and the lagoons during the walk are beautiful! Among the most visited in the itinerary are Lagoa do Maçarico, Lagoa do Clone (where the soap opera O Clone was filmed) and, as it should be, Lagoa Bonita. The main difference of this tour to the one of Lagoa Azul is the large number of unnamed water portions that are along the way. It is really a spectacular scenery from the top of the dunes!

Lençóis Maranhenses are located on the eastern coast of Maranhão, and the village of Atins is one of the gateway to the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. Located in the municipality of Barreirinhas, it is located in the mouth Preguiças River, where its waters converge with the Atlantic Ocean. The first stop will be in the community of Vassouras, where we will be able to walk through the dunes and drink a refreshing coconut water. We return on the voadeira ride towards the town known as Mandacarú. There we will visit a lighthouse 35 meters high that will provide us with a spectacular view of the river and its mouth, the sea and the intense vegetation of the region. Leaving the iconic lighthouse, we head towards our last stop, the community of Caburé. This small village is divided by the waters of the river and the sea, which is a perfect option for those who want to swim and cool off.

We'll leave at 8:00 am from the main hotels in Barreirinhas aboard a 4×4 vehicle bound for Canto do Atins. The estimated time of arrival is 1h30 on a route composed mainly of trails. Atins forms beautiful landscapes and we will walk there in search of the lagoons formed by rainwater. We will have the opportunity to dive in its waters and take beautiful pictures. Then we will stop for lunch, to see the most famous fish and shrimp in Maranhão (lunch is not included). After lunch, we will have a well-deserved rest in a hammock before returning to Barreirinhas, where we are scheduled to arrive at 5:00 pm.

Our tour starts around 08:00h, leaving the hotel in a 4x4 vehicle bound for the town of Cardosa. The journey to this small town takes around 1 hour, but this time is compensated by the fun we will have when we arrive at the destination. Once we arrived in Cardosa, we soon got ready to start an incredible experience. With the help of buoys, we are going to float on the Formiga River! The river has a very weak current that takes us downstream. The journey lasts around 50 minutes and is very interesting as it gives the visitor the feeling that they are part of the river! There are guides to help throughout the process, but the ride is risk-free and is recommended for all ages, as the current is really calm. A great opportunity to observe the rich vegetation around the river in a very different and pleasant way. After the descent, we return to Barreirinhas.

The level of walking is considered average, because to start the circuit we will need to climb a 30 meter dune with the help of a rope. The beautiful scenery formed with the dunes fields and the national park give breath to finish the climb. The view that we have when we finish the walk from the top of the dunes is a must see. At that point we started the walk along Lagoa Bonita Circuit. During the rainy season it is possible to observe several lakes along the way, including one that was the scene of a famous Brazilian dramaturgy. In the late afternoon the tour ends and the 4x4 vehicle takes us back to the hotel, where the arrival is scheduled for 7:00 pm, after an intense unforgettable afternoon.
