NEW HOLLAND OPENS
The artificial island in the centre of St-Petersburg city (2, Admiralty banking) was built by Peter the Great in 1721 to be its first military port. Since then it's held a ship building factory according to Dutch tehniques, a prison and a Soviet radio station that was the height of technology back in 1917.
Located in the heart of historic St Petersburg, yet closed to the public for nearly 300 years, New Holland possesses both a unique history and exceptionally exciting potential for future development.
On the 16th of July 2011 the island was finally open for visitors. The complex includes galleries, beach volleyball court, cafes, shops, free WiFi.
